  • Media consumption and Covid-19 vaccination hesitancy

    Andrew C Tollison, Ashley LoPresti•ARTICLE•Communication Research Reports•2023

This study explored the influence media consumption (i.e. news websites, television networks, and social media) and health literacy have on COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy. • The Evolving Communicative Value of Popular Music

    Jacob S Turner, Andrew C Tollison•ARTICLE•Journal of Broadcasting &…•2021

The current research sought to examine how consuming music on streaming platforms, such as Spotify, and other digital media acts as a form of interpersonal communication. This survey research, which is based on a sample (n = 401) recruited through Amazon’s Mechanical Turk (MTurk) human intelligence marketplace, revealed that once consumption rates surpass casual listening (more than 2 hours per day), popular music offers remarkably comparable com…

    Open Access•Jacob S Turner, Andrew C Tollison et al.•ARTICLE•Communication & Sport•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 9

Results from a survey of collegiate athletes ( N = 353) illustrate that it is not only students’ generalized ability to understand health information (health literacy) that determines knowledge of concussion symptoms but also one’s motivation to think deeply about concussion protocols (need for cogn…

  • Emerging adult confidants’ judgments of parental openness

    E E Donovan, C M Thompson et al.•ARTICLE•Communication Monographs•2016•Cited by: 4•References: 22

Research on openness and disclosure has prioritized the perspectives of disclosers and largely omitted the experiences of confidants. In particular, we contend that it is important to learn more about how emerging adult (EA) confidants perceive parental disclosure episodes and how parental openness manifests in ways that lead to increased intimacy. In Study One, participants’ open-ended descriptions of parental disclosures were thematically analy…
