Contribution to study of Asmat genetic variability
During an anthropological survey in the South-West of Irian Jaya (Indonesian New Guinea), 145 blood samples were collected from the coastal Asmat population. Asymptomatic hepatitis among the Asmat
An investigation for HAV and HBV markers of infection was carried out among the Asmat population of Irian Jaya (Indonesian New Guinea). 158 serum samples were examined: besides the HAV-IgC marker, total-HBV and HBsAg, anti-HBs, anti-HBc were investigated. 98.7% of total sample were found positive to HAV and 83.3% were positive to at least one HBV serum marker of infection. The results are analyzed according to sex, age and locality of residence. …
