  • How We Imagine Poetic Constructions: The Role of Episodic Simulation in Poetry Composition

Man Zhang, Guanxiong Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Creativity Research Journal•2026

Poetry is one of the most imaginative and creative expressions of language, but how we imagine and generate poetic scenes and events is not yet empirically studied. The present study investigated the role of episodic simulation – the ability to flexibly recombine details to construct new scenes and events – on a poetry composition task. In Experiment 1 and Experiment 2, episodic specificity induction (ESI) and imagination specificity induction we…

  • Defining organized R&D: Collective action for mission-oriented innovation

Open Access•Yingbo Li, Zihan Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2025

This study establishes a theoretical framework linking organized R&D (ORD) and mission-oriented innovation (MOI) through a collective action lens. MOI performance is evaluated using three key indicators: academic publications, Science and Technology Awards (STA), and granted patents. ORD dimensions are operationalized through research teams, human resources, academic milieu, and public funding. Leveraging survey data and archival records from 23 …

  • Cathodal Stimulation on Left Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex Facilitates Restructuring Process Underlying Insight Problem Solving

Guanxiong Liu, Riman Ga et al.•ARTICLE•Creativity Research Journal•2025

Studies have shown that weakened executive control by cathodal stimulation targeting the prefrontal cortex (PFC) improves performance on classical insight problem solving. However, it remains unclear how cathodal stimulation on PFC impacts the restructuring processes underlying insight problem solving, and how task-specific cognitive demands influence the PFC neuromodulation effects. Here, we employed a multimodal approach integrating eye-trackin…

  • Teaching expectancy improves video‐based learning: Evidence from eye‐movement synchronization

Open Access•Zheng Liang, Riman Ga et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Educational…•2025

Video‐based learning (VBL) is popular, yet students tend to learn video material passively. Instilling teaching expectancy is a strategy to promote active processing by learners, but it is unclear how effective it will be in improving VBL. This study examined the role of teaching expectancy on VBL by comparing the learning outcomes and metacognitive monitoring of 94 learners with different expectancies (teaching, test or no expectancy). Results s…

  • Artificial intelligence, privacy utility and perceived legitimacy: The nonlinear moderating effect of knowledge

Shangrui Wang, Yuanmeng Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Information Communication & Society•2025

Privacy is a critical concern in the AI era, yet its impact remains underexplored in public service delivery. This study develops a moderated mediation model, where privacy utility mediates the relationship between decision-makers (AI, human-AI collaboration, humans) and perceived legitimacy, with AI knowledge nonlinearly moderating this relationship. A vignette experiment was used to investigate causality, with 512 participants recruited from Ch…

  • The effect of the spatial distribution of state‐owned enterprises on the location of private‐owned enterprise births

Open Access•Zhong Zhao, Liang Zheng et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Regional Science•2024

The impact of the incumbent state‐owned enterprises (SOEs) on the births of new private‐owned enterprises (POEs) in China is a central concern for the government and society. In this paper, we apply agglomeration theories to distinguish the linkages between SOEs and POEs. Using China's 2008 economic census, the 2007 Input‐Output Table, and the 2005 population census, we measure the formation of new POEs at the city‐industry level, and the agglome…

Yanran Chen, Liang Zheng et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2022

  • The impact of state-owned enterprises on the employment growth of manufacturing in Chinese cities: Evidence from economic census microdata

    Open Access•Liang Zheng, Zheng Liang•ARTICLE•Urban Studies•2021•References: 27

This article utilises economic census microdata to examine the impact of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) on the employment growth of manufacturing industries in Chinese cities between 2004 and 2008. The main findings show that the presence of SOEs inhibits employment growth in the manufacturing industry. Using the historical landscape of SOEs as an instrumental variable, our findings underscore that the overall impact of SOEs remains negative. Thi…

  • A data-driven global innovation system approach and the rise of China’s artificial intelligence industry

Zhen Yu, Liang Zheng et al.•ARTICLE•Regional Studies•2021•Cited by: 7•References: 2

Building upon the global innovation system (GIS) framework, this paper develops an analytical approach to incorporate data as a foundation-level resource in data-driven innovation systems and to unravel how the interplay of system resources’ spatial characteristics, multi-scalar institutions and actor strategies leads to the emergence of China’s artificial intelligence industry. China’s loose institutional regime significantly facilitates the for…

  • Trade liberalisation and domestic brands: Evidence from China's accession to the WTO

Open Access•Xinghua Deng, Ran Jing et al.•ARTICLE•World Economy•2020

In this paper, we examine how trade liberalisation affects firms' branding behaviours. We investigate this question with China's accession to the WTO in late 2001. We find that firms in sectors with large import tariff reductions discontinue more trademarks. Meanwhile, these firms file more trademark applications and their total number of effective trademarks increases after trade liberalisation. This growth in trademarks is mainly driven by larg…

In the past decades numerous late Miocene hominoid fossils have been discovered in Eurasia but the relationships among them and to the later hominids are still in debate. Yunnan Province of China is one of the key places of hominoid fossil discoveries. Till now, four sites have yielded Miocene hominoid fossils. Among them, Lufeng and Yuanmou rank with Siwalik as the richest fossil sites in Eurasia. Here, we report the results of a dietary analysi…
