A Reassessment of the Psychosocial Functions of Sport Scale

A Path Analytic Examination of Sport Termination
This research examined factors from the literature thought to affect level of athletic participation. Methodologically, the research utilized path analytic techniques in the secondary analysis of data collected previously (Martin & Dodder 1991). Findings indicated maintenance of athletic participation, for both males and females, was primarily a function of encouragement from others and perceived ability.
