School principals’ Covid-19 health literacy and its association with mental health
School principals are prone to mental health problems due to work demands. During the COVID-19 pandemic, school principals were additionally tasked with managing challenging responsibilities, i.e. implementing hygiene regulations, communicating frequent policy updates, and transitioning to online teaching. This international study aimed to assess school principals’ COVID-19 health literacy (HL) levels as a resource during the pandemic and to exam…
Association of school leaders’ Covid-19 health literacy with the implementation of health promotion in schools in Germany
German school principals had high self-reported COVID-19 health literacy. School principals' self-reported COVID-19 health literacy was a significant factor associated with the implementation of COVID-19 related health promotion in schools. The present findings underline the need to investigate the relationship of school principals' health literacy and other potential influencing factors for the implementation of health promotion in schools
Psychometric properties of a Covid-19 health literacy scale in a sample of German school principals applying Rasch analysis
The German version of the HLS-COVID-Q22 appears to be a reliable measurement tool for the target population. Evidence for construct, statistical and fit validity was collected. Future studies need to test additional types of validity like convergent and divergent validity to further evaluate the questionnaire. Moreover, the psychometric properties of the translated versions of the HLS-COVID-Q22 should be compared using Rasch analysis
Health literacy as a social vaccine in the Covid-19 pandemic
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a novel virus in the coronavirus family, causing the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Biomedical vaccines are key but alongside biomedical vaccines, a social vaccine can be similarly useful to prevent infection from SARS-CoV-2, if applied as a health promotion strategy. In order to slow down and control the spread of SARS-CoV-2, applying the social vaccine concept should be consid…
Promoting patient-centered care in nursing education and the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. Results of a survey of nursing school principals in Germany
Background: Patient-centered care is largely determined by the manner in which patients and health care professionals such as nurses interact and communicate. To enable nurses to become familiar with the concept of patient-centered care and to learn concrete approaches to action, the training and qualification phase plays a central role. Although aspects of patient- and person-centered care can be found in the curricula of nursing training, it is…
Infodemic Preparedness and Covid-19
Searching for PHSM was significantly associated with an increased likelihood of achieving sufficient DHL subscales in a shorter time. Further studies are needed, including developing strategies to increase the availability of high-quality information concerning public health and social measures and to improve (digital) health literacy
Digital Health Literacy and Web-Based Information-Seeking Behaviors of University Students in Germany During the Covid-19 Pandemic
BACKGROUND: Digital communication technologies are playing an important role in the health communication strategies of governments and public health authorities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The internet and social media have become important sources of health-related information on COVID-19 and on protective behaviors. In addition, the COVID-19 infodemic is spreading faster than the coronavirus itself, which interferes with governmental health-r…

The aim of the study was to determine the level of health literacy and the association between health literacy, demographic and socio-economic factors in German older adults aged 65 years and above stratified by age group. Health literacy was assessed via computer-assisted personal interviews using HLS-EU-Q47 on a…
Health literacy among different age groups in Germany
