In 1980 at the Institut de Recherche et de Coordination Acoustique/Musique (IRCAM), Jonathan Harvey completed a short work for eight-channel tape, entitled Mortuos Plango, Vivos Voco, with the assistance of Stanley Haynes and Xavier Rodet (Harvey 1981).
