  • An Evaluation of Impostor Phenomenon in Data Science Students

Open Access•Lindsay R Duncan, Lindsay Duncan et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

Impostor Phenomenon (IP), also called impostor syndrome, involves feelings of perceived fraudulence, self-doubt, and personal incompetence that persist despite one's education, experience, and accomplishments. This study is the first to evaluate the presence of IP among data science students and to evaluate several variables linked to IP simultaneously in a single study evaluating data science. In addition, it is the first study to evaluate the e…

  • Mercury enrichment in anthrosols and adjacent coastal sediments at a Classic Maya site, Marco Gonzalez, Belize

    Open Access•Simon Turner, Simon P Turner et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2021•Cited by: 3•References: 13

Elevated concentrations of total mercury (THg) are found in the surface soils and flanking wetland sediments at the Classic Maya coastal site of Marco Gonzalez, Belize. Significant concentrations (up to 1.3 μg·g −1 dry mass) of THg occur in leaf litter‐rich soils, as well as in the artefact‐rich anthrosol spread over the vegetated mound site of structures and occupation debris. The abundance and spatial pattern of major and trace elements measure…

  • Applied Archaeology in the Americas: Evaluating Archaeological Solutions to the Impacts of Global Environmental Change

John M Cooper, Jago Cooper et al.•CHAPTER•Oxford Handbook of Historical…•2019

This chapter considers the role of archaeology in creating solutions for coping with the impacts of global environmental change, illustrated by cases from Latin America. Past examples of the practical application of pre-Columbian innovations and techniques are considered, and the key themes of social practice and community engagement discussed. These principles are then applied to the islands of the Caribbean where archaeology can play an importa…

  • The Marco Gonzalez Maya site, Ambergris Caye, Belize: Assessing the impact of human activities by examining diachronic processes at the local scale

Open Access•Elizabeth Graham, Richard Macphail et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • Past and Future Earth: Archaeology and Soil Studies on Ambergris Caye, Belize

Open Access•Elizabeth Graham, Richard Macphail et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeology International•2016

Marco Gonzalez is one of a number of Maya sites on Belize’s coast and cayes (coral islands) that exhibit anomalous vegetation and dark-coloured soils. Like Amazonian Dark Earths (ADEs), the soils are sought locally for cultivation and are underlain by anthropogenic deposits. Our research is aimed at assessing the role of the anthropogenic deposits in soil formation processes with a view to developing strategies to quantify the long-term environme…
