Wait, is she Black: Unsuccessful White Pass in Tiffany D. Jackson's The Weight of Blood
In this article, we study Tiffany D. Jackson's novel The Weight of Blood (2022) as a neo-passing narrative that interrogates the colour-blind ideology and the idea of a post-racial society. By focussing on the biracial character of Maddy Washington, we explore the necessity of white passing in contemporary American society and examine her challenges after her unsuccessful attempt at passing. We aim to show that, despite the false claims of post-r…

Analysis of factors influencing farmers’ sustainable environmental behavior in agriculture activities: Integration of the planned behavior and the protection motivation theories
The Application of Machine Learning to a General Risk–Need Assessment Instrument in the Prediction of Criminal Recidivism
The Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (LS/CMI) is one of the most frequently used tools to assess criminogenic risk–need in justice-involved individuals. Meta-analytic research demonstrates strong predictive accuracy for various recidivism outcomes. In this exploratory study, we applied machine learning (ML) algorithms (decision trees, random forests, and support vector machines) to a data set with nearly 100,000 LS/CMI administrations t…
The mediation effect of rural women empowerment between social factors and environment conservation (combination of empowerment and ecofeminist theories)
A Study of Double Consciousness in Lauri Lemberg’s St. Croix Avenue and Paula Ivaska Robbins’ Below Rollstone Hill
In this paper, I analyse the Du Boisian concept of ‘double consciousness’ and offer an overview of its different implications. I then approach Lauri Lemberg’s St. Croix Avenue and Paula Ivaska Robbins’ Below Rollstone Hill from the perspective of this concept. A comparative study of these novels enables me to detect and contextualise cases of double consciousness within both texts as related to Finnish immigrants in the United States. I also argu…
Replenishing and Recycling an Exhausted History in Lydia R. Diamond’s Voyeurs de Venus
In this article, I offer an analysis of Lydia R. Diamond's Voyeurs de Venus and argue that the replenishment of Saartjie Baartman's hilstory by Diamond can provide alternative perspectives to that exhausted piece of hilstory. In my analysis, I explore the ways that Diamond uses to flashlight the dark and unknown areas in the life of this historical figure. I demonstrate how the repetition and revision of that hilstory links the present to the pas…
Paradigms of Postmodern Democracies
Postmodernism has served as a turning point in the human evolution of thought, and thus, it has challenged a number of assumptions central to social, political, historical, cultural, and literary fields. Accordingly, postmodernism has not left the study of democracy untouched, and in this essay, I aim to study the ways that postmodernism has affected the political, social, and literary democracies. To this end, I develop a conceptual comparative …

Wanted: Debt or Alive in Suzan-Lori Parks’s FA
I approach Suzan-Lori Parks’s play Fucking A from the perspectives of postmodern drama and show how the discourse of postmodernism enables Parks to make intertextual links with some other literary works in order to reinvent the past and address a number of social ills and historical scars in the present. I also explore a number of key preoccupations of postmodern aesthetics, which contribute to the creation of indeterminacies in the play and argu…
Quest/ion of Identities in Suzan-Lori Parks’s Post-revolutionary Drama
Inspired both by the Black Arts Movement and the postmodern revolt against it, Parks has concentrated on crafting provocative plays that represent and emphasize the concerns and quest/ion of identities for African Americans. In the present essay, I argue that Parks is interested in questioning the former constructed racial boundaries of blackness and revolutionary ideologies of the Black Arts Movement without turning a blind eye to the concerns o…
A Study of “Quad Ps” in Suzan-Lori Parks’s Venus
In the present essay, I examine Venus from the standpoint of Black feminism. I study the impact factor of intersectionality on Black women and their lives and study how the perversion of Black womanhood as well as scientific racism can help the White men hail institutionalized discrimination, displacement, and sexploitation at them and scientifically promote themselves. In addition, I examine how the perversion of Black body helps the White enter…
Revisiting History in Hayden White's Philosophy
In his "Historical Fiction, Fictional History, and Historical Reality," Hayden White writes "What we postmodernists are against is a professional historiography." This statement inspired me to reexamine a number of White's oeuvre from the perspective of postmodernism so as to find out in what ways and to what extent White is a postmodernist. In addition, I highlight a number of preoccupations of professional historiography and argue how White dep…
