Cet article analyse le travail de réflexion sur la forme-parti réalisé par Louis Althusser au cours des années 1970 dans le contexte de transformation « eurocommuniste » du Parti communiste français. Ce travail permet de comprendre le passage du « communisme » à la « gauche » comme le moment du dénouement du fil qui reliait un mouvement de masse à visée révolutionnaire et d’une théorie de la société et de l’histoire à visée scientifique

Althusser’s Machiavelli and Us has often been considered as the French Marxist’s first step on the path beyond Marxism.
