Investigating the curvilinear relationship between temporal leadership and team creativity
Modern organizations increasingly rely on teams to provide creative solutions in a timely manner. Temporal leadership has thus gained substantial interest, based on the assumption that it is conducive to team effectiveness. However, we advance a different view of temporal leadership's influence on team creativity. Building on temporal leadership literature and the paradox model of creativity, we propose that temporal leadership has a curvilinear …
It is not what we have, but how we use it
Over several decades, studies of the relationship between task conflict and team innovation have yielded mixed findings. In the present study, drawing on the resource-based view (RBV), we consider that task conflict can activate a dynamic pool of knowledge resources and argue that the impact of task conflict on team innovation is dependent upon the knowledge integration capacity of a team, which is defined as a team’s ability to effectively combi…
Team Learning, Transactive Memory System and Performance
Effect of the Amount of Task-Relevant Information on Shared Mental Models in Computer-Mediated and Face-to-Face Teams
The effect of the amount of task-relevant information on shared mental models in computer-mediated and face-to-face settings was examined. A 3 × 2 factorial design combining the amount of information with communication modes was administered through a simulated experiment. Results showed that the effects of the amount of information on the formation of shared mental models were discrepant. In the computer-mediated setting, the sharedness of menta…
