  • Vers un catholicisme du ressenti ? Les virtuoses et la recomposition d'une religiosité catholique au Québec en ce début de XXIe siècle

    Open Access•É-Martin Meunier, Jean-Philippe Perreault•ARTICLE•Studies in Religion/Sciences…•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 27

Since 2001, several indicators of religiosity in Quebec show a loss of the dominant configuration of cultural Catholicism since the 1960s. The arrival of new generations is one of the causes of this transformation. A new regime of religiosity is at stake, of which the rise of the non-religious is one of the visible manifestations. But this is only one pole. At the other end of the spectrum are also strongly committed and churchgoers Catholics, wi…

    Open Access•David Koussens, Jean-François Laniel et al.•ARTICLE•Studies in Religion/Sciences…•2021•References: 14

This article identifies and problematizes the institutional and epistemological issues of the study of religion in Quebec. Its thesis is the unfinished foundation of the discipline that is primarily devoted to it, the social sciences of religion. The first section traces the institutional evolution of the field of study of religion in Quebec, from theology to the social sciences of religion, from faculties and departments to centers and institute…

  • Le numérisme

    Open Access•Jean-Philippe Perreault, Martin Vaillancourt•ARTICLE•Social Compass•2020

For the most part, studies on the relationship between religion and digital can be grouped under the theme Digital Religion. Without being totally foreign to it, the phenomenon we are interested in here seems to be of a different order. Rather than ‘digitized religion’, we are confronted with what we might understand as a quest for digital meaning. Some authors who have described this technological religiosity argue that it serves to legitimize t…

  • Les héritiers du baby-boom . Jeunes et religion au Québec

    Open Access•F Gauthier, Jean-Philippe Perreault•ARTICLE•Social Compass•2013

Quebec youth are largely detached from traditional religious institutions today and live in a socio-religious context that has been deeply transformed by the 1960s Quiet Revolution’s rapid social, political and cultural modernization. As a result, the French-Canadian majority is not so much the Catholic Church’s orphans as the inheritors of the Cultural Revolution incarnated by baby boomers who have transmitted a spiritualized and non-institution…

  • Jeunes et religieux au Québec

    Open Access•Jean-Philippe Perreault•ARTICLE•HORIZONTE•2012

    Open Access•Jean-Philippe Perreault•ARTICLE•Studies in Religion/Sciences…•2012•Cited by: 2•References: 7

The International Eucharistic Congress in Quebec (2008) provides a number of indicators on the status of religious experience among young people and their relationship with the Catholic tradition. While the event may seem disconnected from the dominant culture, it would not be possible without its contribution. Which characteristics of youth culture and the IEC have strong enough affinities for this event not only to be possible, but also to be c…

  • De la continuité tranquille

    Jean-Philippe Perreault•ARTICLE•Recherches sociographiques•2012•Cited by: 1•References: 12
