F.M. Dostoevsky – Vl. Solovyov in the light of A.F. Losev’s antinomian-symbolic theory
The article puts forward the hypothesis that in order to study the “antinomic poetics” of the Russian Symbolists it is necessary first to establish the origins of their antinomian thinking. Based on this thesis, the author turns to the works of F.M. Dostoevsky and Vl. Solovyov, whose importance for the formation of symbolism in Russia is quite obvious. However, the article offers a non-traditional perspective on this problem: it does not analyze…

Russia and Europe
The paper discusses the perception of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s work by Yuly Aykhenvald (1872–1928), a famous literary critic of the first quarter of the twentieth century. It shows that Aykhenvald’s attitude toward Dostoevsky had undergone a certain evolution from a rejection via demands to “overcome” him to his recognition as one of the “spiritual leaders” of the thinking Russia alongside Pushkin and Leo Tolstoy. Yet Aykhenvald still had some controv…
