The articles in this issue examine and document the emerging politics of education in the COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on its present and future consequences for equity and social justice. Learning from Dumbledore's Pensieve
This article suggests that the Pensieve - a magical instrument featured prominently in the Harry Potter books - is a useful metaphor for teaching qualitative researchers about reflexivity. Teaching naturalistic forms of inquiry poses many challenges. To understand the role the media play in educational politics, it useful to consider the media's role in a participatory democracy. Collaborative team ethnography and the paradoxes of interpretation
In this article, the authors examine the paradoxical process of interpretation in collaborative team ethnography. They use examples from their work on a collaborative team evaluation of the North Carolina A+ Schools Program. The differing perspectives and experiences of the researchers entangled their ability to form an "interpretive zone."
