Dennis L Rosen, David L Rosen et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2014•Cited by: 2•References: 6

Medicaid is an important source of health care coverage for prison-involved populations. From 2011 to 2012, we surveyed state prison system (SPS) policies affecting Medicaid enrollment during incarceration and upon release; 42 of 50 SPSs participated. Upon incarceration, Medicaid benefits were suspended in 9 (21.4%) SPSs and terminated in 28 (66.7%); 27 (64.3%) SPSs screened prisoners for potential Medicaid eligibility. Open Access•Mathew D Gayman, R Jay Turner et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Early Adolescence•2010•Cited by: 8•References: 31

Although the protective role of social support is well established in the health literature, antecedents of perceived social support are not well understood. Research on family experiential factors during early adolescence, an important psychosocial developmental period in the life course, represents a promising line of inquiry. Using a sample of young adults in Miami-Dade County, Florida ( N = 1,267) involving longitudinal data spanning 8 years,…

  • Ethnic Identity and Self-Esteem: Contrasting Cuban and Nicaraguan Young Adults

    Open Access•Andrew M Cislo•ARTICLE•Hispanic Journal of Behavioral…•2008•Cited by: 10•References: 35

A growing literature suggests that stronger ethnic identity is associated with higher levels of self-esteem among Hispanic Americans. However, most studies employ a panethnic “Hispanic” category or focus on one ethnic group, leaving open the question of how different Hispanic groups compare in this association. In the framework of social identity theory, the author provides ordinary least squares (OLS) estimates of the relationship between ethnic…
