How important are borders for tourism? The case of Europe
Using a bilateral dataset of trips for 32 European countries for the period 2012–2019, we aim to gauge the size and evolution of the border effect on tourism: the extent to which domestic tourism is greater (or lesser) than international tourism. We found that the tourism flow within countries was 24 times greater than between countries. Also, we show that, relative to 2012, the border effect diminished by 13% in 2019. Our main contribution to existing literature is that differences of efficiency between cooperative banks and commercial banks are assessed as …

In doing so, Data Envelopment Analysis techniques and the metafrontier approach proposed by O’Donnell et al. (2008) are used on a sample of Spanish Labour Societies and Co…
Does service quality matter in measuring the performance of water utilities
Evaluation of irrigation projects and water resource management
Traditionally, water policy in Spain, and particularly as regards irrigation, has paid little attention to the analysis of efficiency in management aspects. This reality is in juxtaposition with the growing difficulties observed in satisfying water demand and with social demands in terms of the efficient use of public money. In this paper a methodology is proposed, which could be particularly useful for the economic‐financial evaluation of public…
