  • How resilient is public support for carbon pricing? Longitudinal evidence from Germany

Open Access•Sabrina Sommer, Théo Konc et al.•ARTICLE•Ecological Economics•2026

The success of climate policies depends crucially on the dynamics of public support. Using unique longitudinal data from three surveys conducted between 2019 and 2022, we study the variations of public support for carbon pricing and revenue use in Germany. Using panel methods, we show that support is very persistent over time. However, people who incur high energy cost decrease their support. Regarding revenue use, we find that social cushioning …

  • Perceptions of carbon inequality and attitudes to policy responses

    Open Access•Stefan Drew, Théo Konc•ARTICLE•Energy Research & Social Science•2026

  • Agent‐based modeling to integrate elements from different disciplines for ambitious climate policy

Open Access•Igor Savin, Felix Creutzig et al.•ARTICLE•Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews…•2022•Referências: 10

Ambitious climate mitigation policies face social and political resistance. One reason is that existing policies insufficiently capture the diversity of relevant insights from the social sciences about potential policy outcomes. We argue that agent‐based models can serve as a powerful tool for integration of elements from different disciplines. Having such a common platform will enable a more complete assessment of climate policies, in terms of c…

  • Co-dynamics of climate policy stringency and public support

    Open Access•Théo Konc, Stefan Drew et al.•ARTICLE•Global Environmental Change•2022•Citada por: 11•Referências: 10

Public support for stringent climate policies is currently weak. We develop a model to study the dynamics of public support for climate policies. It comprises three interconnected modules: one calculates policy impacts; a second translates these into policy support mediated by social influence; and a third represents the regulator adapting policy stringency depending on public support. The model combines general-equilibrium and agent-based elemen…

  • Designing an effective climate-policy mix

    J C J M Van Den Bergh, J Castro et al.•ARTICLE•Climate Policy•2021

We assess evidence from theoretical-modelling, empirical and experimental studies on how interactions between instruments of climate policy affect overall emissions reduction. Such interactions take the form of negative, zero or positive synergistic effects. The considered instruments comprise performance and technical standards, carbon pricing, adoption subsidies, innovation support, and information provision. Based on the findings, we formulate…

  • A review of agent‐based modeling of climate‐energy policy

Open Access•Juana Castro Santa, Juana Castro et al.•ARTICLE•Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews…•2020

Agent‐based models (ABMs) have recently seen much application to the field of climate mitigation policies. They offer a more realistic description of micro behavior than traditional climate policy models by allowing for agent heterogeneity, bounded rationality and nonmarket interactions over social networks. This enables the analysis of a broader spectrum of policies. Here, we review 61 ABM studies addressing climate‐energy policy aimed at emissi…
