  • Evidence of the Matuyama-Brunhes transition in cave sediment in Central Europe

    Open Access•Hakan Ucar, G Kletetschka et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2021

  • Late Glacial lacustrine and fluvial processes in the Lower Moravian Basin (Czech Republic)

  • Late-Holocene evolution of a floodplain impounded by the Smrdutá landslide, Carpathian Mountains (Czech Republic)

    Open Access•Tomáš Pánek, Veronika Smolková et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2012•Cited by: 1•References: 10

Landslides affecting narrow mountainous valleys might significantly determine sedimentation dynamics of floodplains. We present here a detailed study of the sedimentary archive within a landslide-controlled impounded floodplain (Smrdutá site, Czech Flysch Carpathians) using geochronological ( 14 C and 137 Cs), sedimentological and pollen evidence. A sedimentary sequence deposited above the landslide dam points to three highly discontinuous and in…

  • Insights into Wasatch fault vertical slip rates using the age of sediments in Timpanogos Cave, Utah

    Open Access•Alan L Mayo, Jiri Bruthans et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2009

Timpanogos Cave, located near the Wasatch fault, is about 357 m above the American Fork River. Fluvial cave sediments and an interbedded carbonate flowstone yield a paleomagnetic and U–Th depositional age of 350 to 780 ka. Fault vertical slip rates, inferred from calculated river downcutting rates, range between 1.02 and 0.46 mm yr − 1 . These slip rates are in the range of the 0–12 Ma Wasatch Range exhumation rate (∼ 0.5–0.7 mm yr − 1 ), suggest…

  • Morava River floodplain development during the last millennium, Strážnické Pomoraví, Czech Republic

    Open Access•Jaroslav Kadlec, Tomáš Matys Grygar et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2009•Cited by: 4•References: 4

Floodplain sediments deposited along the lower course of the Morava River (eastern Czech Republic), were studied in the Strážnické Pomoraví region to describe the alluvial history of the river over the last millennium. The sediments exposed in up to 5 m high erosional river banks were analysed using mineral magnetic, geochemical and chemical approaches. The age model of the sedimentary sequences was constructed from radiocarbon dates in associati…

  • Climate-induced changes in Holocene calcareous tufa formations, Bohemian Karst, Czech Republic

Open Access•Karel Žák, Vojen Ložek et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2002

  • Late Pleistocene and Holocene Investigations in Europe, International Conference on Past Global Changes (Pages), Praha, September 2000
