  • Tree-Ring Expeditions (Trex)

Open Access•Nicole Davi, Patrick Pringle et al.•ARTICLE•Tree-Ring Research•2019

Here we describe five publicly available online labs, geared to undergraduate students, which focus on foundational tree-ring research. Students are introduced to basic dendrochronological concepts and practices (Lab 1) while learning about research that has implications for human well-being. Students learn about the way scientists use tree-ring records to reconstruct drought in the Hudson Valley in New York (Lab 2), how tree-ring science began t…

  • Improved dendroclimatic calibration using blue intensity in the southern Yukon

    Open Access•Rob Wilson, Kevin J Anchukaitis et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 5

In north-western North America, the so-called divergence problem (DP) is expressed in tree ring width (RW) as an unstable temperature signal in recent decades. Maximum latewood density (MXD), from the same region, shows minimal evidence of DP. While MXD is a superior proxy for summer temperatures, there are very few long MXD records from North America. Latewood blue intensity (LWB) measures similar wood properties as MXD, expresses a similar clim…

  • South American Dendroecological Fieldweek 2016

    Open Access•Mariano M Amoroso, James H Speer et al.•ARTICLE•Tree-Ring Research•2018

The South American Dendroecological Fieldweek (SADEF) associated with the Third American Dendrochronology Conference was held in El Bolsón, Argentina, in March 2016. The main objective of the SADEF was to teach the basics of dendrochronology while applying specific knowledge to selected research questions. The course included participants and instructors from six different countries. This report describes activities of the course and briefly summ…
