  • Mid-Holocene relative sea-level changes along Atlantic Patagonia

    Open Access•Monica Bini, Ilaria Isola et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2017•Cited by: 1•References: 5

This paper concerns the relative sea-level changes associated with the Atlantic Patagonian coast derived from sea-level index points whose elevation was determined by a differential global position system (DGPS). Bioencrustations from outcrops located near Camarones, Chubut, Argentina, consist of autochthonous deposits characterized by Austromegabalanus psittacus (Molina, 1782), encrusting acervulinid foraminifera, coralline red algae and bryozoa…

  • Sedimentology, faunal content and pollen record of Middle Pleistocene palustrine and lagoonal sediments from the Peri-Adriatic basin, Abruzzi, eastern central Italy

Open Access•Pierluigi Pieruccini, Silvia Ravani et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2016

A 25 m-thick outcrop section exposed at Torre Mucchia, on the sea-cliff north of Ortona, eastern central Italy, comprises a rare Middle Pleistocene succession of shallow-water and paralic sediments along the western Adriatic Sea. An integrated study of the section, including facies and microfacies analyses, and characterization of paleobiological associations (mollusks, fishes, ostracods, foraminifers and pollen), enable a detailed reconstruction…

  • Middle- to late-Holocene relative sea-level changes at Puerto Deseado (Patagonia, Argentina)

    Open Access•Giovanni Zanchetta, Monica Bini et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2014•Cited by: 2•References: 7

Stratigraphic, morphologic and radiocarbon data from Puerto Deseado coastal area (Santa Cruz Province, Argentina) indicate that the Holocene coastline formed in response to the discontinuous aggradation of coarse gravely beaches since c. 6300 cal. yr BP related to a progressive falling of relative sea level. Beach ridge crests crudely approximate to the sea level showing at least three steps of aggradation and relative sea-level lowering. Two ina…

  • Geomorphologic Map of Northeastern Sector of San Jorge Gulf (Chubut, Argentina)

Open Access•Ilaria Isola, Monica Bini et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2011

Please click here to download the map associated with this article. This paper presents a 1:100,000 scale geomorphologic map of the Northeastern sector of San Jorge Gulf (Chubut Province) in Patagonia, Argentina, covering more than 1,000 km. Derived from remote sensing data and validated by three field surveys, it has been compiled in order to understand the past and recent evolution of the area with particular reference to sea-level oscillation …
