Social‐ecological signatures in plant species composition across Swiss cities and urban green space types
Societal Impact Statement Cities can harbor greater plant diversity than other ecosystems, yet how city sociocultural factors may determine differences in plant composition across equivalent urban green space types remains understudied. Here, we compare plant communities in five main urban greenspace types across three Swiss cities representing the country's French (Geneva), Italian (Lugano), and German (Zurich) cultural regions. We found that ov…
Functional traits as a new approach for interpreting testate amoeba palaeo-records in peatlands and assessing the causes and consequences of past changes in species composition
Subfossil remains of various groups of organisms preserved in peat and sediment archives are commonly used to infer past environmental changes using transfer functions based on species composition. However, the changes in community structure can also be explored using the functional trait approach. Investigation of functional traits in palaeoecological records can inform about the mechanisms through which abiotic variables such as temperature or …

Variations of phylloquinone concentration in human milk at various stages of lactation and in cow’s milk at various seasons
An improved high-performance liquid chromatographic method was used to measure phylloquinone concentrations in human and cow's milk. Concentrations in human milk obtained serially from 10 mothers 3, 8, and 21 days after delivery were found to increase during the course of lactation. No correlation was found between phylloquinone concentration and lipids but a significant negative correlation was observed between phylloquinone and cholesterol conc…
