  • Barriers to introducing non-mining land uses onto operational mines as perceived and experienced by experts in Australia

Open Access•James Purtill, Vigya Sharma et al.•ARTICLE•The Extractive Industries and…•2026•References: 6

54 mine rehabilitation experts surveyed. • Explored barriers to parts of operational mines transitioning to a post-mining land use. • Clarity of completion criteria, residual risk and apportionment of liability of highest concern to experts. Every mining jurisdiction in Australia expects mined land to be progressively rehabilitated to achieve a safe, stable, non-polluting landform, capable of sustaining a post-mining land use. Resource communitie…

  • Dynamics of Acacia aneura—Triodia boundaries using carbon (14C and δ 13C) and nitrogen (δ15N) signatures in soil organic matter in central Australia

    Open Access•David M J S Bowman, Guy Boggs et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2007•Cited by: 1•References: 2

Soil organic matter (SOM) was sampled from soil profiles on a near level sandsheet at the southern limit of the Tanami Desert in central Australia to determine if boundaries of Triodia hummock grassland— Acacia aneura shrublands had changed in the Holocene. Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) 14 C dating of 16 soil profiles showed that SOM that had accumulated at 100 to 140 cm depth, (near the base of most profiles) had ages between 1175 and 2630…

  • Rugged Plateaus and Extensive Floodplains — Modelling Landform Evolution in a Northern Australian Catchment

Open Access•G S Boggs, Guy Boggs et al.•ARTICLE•Australian Geographical Studies•2004

Medium to large natural catchments are often more spatially heterogeneous than small catchments or single landforms. Attempting to model landform evolution of large areas is consequently more complex. This paper demonstrates that modelling landform evolution in medium to large catchments can be improved by calibrating the model to smaller, more geomorphologically homogenous sub‐catchments. The paper investigates landform evolution in the Ngarradj…
