Late Holocene climate change and human impact inferred from the pollen record, Haman area, southern Korea
Palynological evidence for agriculture and environmental change from the late Holocene deposits, Hampyeong area, southwestern Korea
Vegetation and climate history during the late Pleistocene and early Holocene inferred from pollen record in Gwangju area, South Korea
Vertebrate burrows in late pleistocene paleosols at Korean Palaeolithic sites and their significance as a stratigraphic marker
A vertebrate burrow-bearing layer of late Pleistocene age is commonly found at many Paleolithic archaeological sites in Korea. The burrows are straight to slightly curved in horizontal (plan) view and gently inclined in lateral (sectional) view. They are interpreted as having been produced by rodent-like mammals based on their size and architecture. The significance of such burrow-bearing layers as a characteristic stratigraphic marker unit is de…
Late-Holocene palaeoclimatic change at the Dongnimdong archaeological site, Gwangju, SW Korea
A late-Holocene swamp sediment record is presented from the Dongnimdong archaeological site in SW Korea. Pollen analysis, geochemical analyses and radiocarbon dating have been used to reconstruct the vegetation and climatic changes. According to the pollen records, temperate deciduous broadleaved trees combined with herbs predominated in the study area ecology. Reduction of deciduous broadleaved trees with the spread of herbaceous taxa found in t…
