A Context-Sensitive Approach for Integrating Fuzzy Set Theory and the FRAM
Role satisfaction among community volunteers working in mass Covid-19 vaccination clinics, Waterloo Region, Canada
For volunteers in crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, volunteer role satisfaction depends on how their contributions are valued, the clarity of their role descriptions, volunteer-specific training, and the sentiments of volunteers and staff within the clinic context. Greater role satisfaction can help with retention as volunteers become more resilient and adaptable to the complex dynamic circumstances of a crisis response. Activities such as tr…
The effects of domain knowledge on trust in explainable AI and task performance
Increasingly, artificial intelligence (AI) is being used to assist complex decision-making such as financial investing. However, there are concerns regarding the black-box nature of AI algorithms. The field of explainable AI (XAI) has emerged to address these concerns. XAI techniques can reveal how an AI decision is formed and can be used to understand and appropriately trust an AI system. However, XAI techniques still may not be human-centred an…
Fresh Kids
The Fresh Kids programme utilized the Health Promoting Schools (HPSs) framework to design a whole-of-school, multifaceted intervention targeting specific behaviours to promote healthy eating and reduce the risk factors associated with childhood obesity. The aim of the programme was to evaluate the effectiveness of the HPS framework to increase fruit and water consumption among primary school-aged children over a 2-year period. The study design wa…

Patients with advanced cancer and family caregivers' knowledge of health and community services
The present study examines the knowledge of health and community services reported by patients with advanced cancer and their family caregivers, and compares patient-stated use with their knowledge of availability. A longitudinal study of the quality of life of patients with advanced cancer was conducted out of the cancer services of The Canberra Hospital, a teaching service, in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Some 317 subjects…

Setting The survey was conducted between October and December 1997 in the state of Victoria, Australia. Subjects A total of 2500 subjects were selected at random from the Australian electoral roll; 900 provided usable responses. Results At the time of the survey, 2.7%…
Evidence for Direct Perception From Cognition in the Wild
This article describes a portion of a study of cognition in the wild that was conducted to investigate how human operators of nuclear power plants monitor the state of the plant to detect abnormalities. Although the study was originally motivated by applied concerns, it surprisingly led to evidence relevant to basic theories of perception. The findings reveal that the instruments in the control room that operators can use for monitoring are both …
