  • Frontlining energy justice

    Open Access•Salma Elmallah, Tony G Reames et al.•ARTICLE•Energy Research & Social Science•2022•Cited by: 7•References: 9

We review over 60 “visioning documents” authored by non-profits and frontline community members in the United States. These visions of energy justice – authored by the actors and communities that have historically organized energy justice programming – are largely absent in the energy justice literature, but they provide guidance on research and policy gaps. This article provides a review and thematic coding of visions for a just energy future, w…

  • Equitable deep decarbonization

Open Access•C Anna Spurlock, Salma Elmallah et al.•ARTICLE•Energy Research & Social Science•2022•Cited by: 2•References: 2

Efforts to decarbonize our energy system to address the climate crisis must seize the opportunity to reduce inequality. Doing so requires a multidisciplinary approach to assess the tradeoffs between alter…

  • A methodology to develop a geospatial transportation typology

    Open Access•Natalie Popovich, C Anna Spurlock et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Transport Geography•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 4

We introduce a methodology to develop a geo-typology (geotype) that categorizes each location in the United States in terms of their main drivers of transportation demand and supply. We develop the first comprehensive set of geotypes for both urban and rural areas across the entire United States. This typology is designed to facilitate national level modeling of multi-modal transportation system's response to alternative investment strategies dif…
