  • Governing shared mobility

Open Access•Santiago Castellano, Katy Wright et al.•ARTICLE•Transportation•2025

Shared mobility services such as shared scooters, bikes, and ridehailing services have transformed the urban mobility landscape in recent years. In this paper we identify the goals that local governments are pursuing when regulating these private services. We also analyse the circumstances and motivations that led to the pursuit of these goals. For this, we carried out three in-depth case studies of cities where private companies had deployed sha…

  • Modelling the Mobility Changes Caused by Perceived Risk and Policy Efficiency

Open Access•Sijin Wu, Susan Grant-Muller et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2022

In many countries, governments have implemented non-pharmaceutical techniques to limit COVID-19 transmission. Restricting human mobility is one of the most common interventions, including lockdown, travel restrictions, working from home, etc. However, due to the strong transmission ability of the virus variants, further rounds of interventions, including a strict lockdown, are not considered as effective as expected. The paper aims to understand …

  • Estimating the social and spatial impacts of Covid mitigation strategies in United Kingdom regions

    Open Access•Rosalind Wallace, Raymond S Franklin et al.•ARTICLE•Cambridge Journal of Regions…•2022•References: 4

This study advances understanding of the broader social and spatial impacts of COVID-19 restrictive measures, particularly how they may have impacted individuals and households and, in turn, the geographic areas in which these individuals and households are concentrated. Data are combined and linked to a novel individual-level synthetic dataset and an interactive dashboard is developed to assist with the identification and understanding of the so…

  • Joint road toll pricing and capacity development in discrete transport network design problem

  • VMT reduction and potential environmental effects with a tradable credits scheme

Meng Xu, Susan Grant-Muller et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2016

We investigate the influence of a tradable credits scheme (TCS) on travel demand and vehicle emissions, based on the vehicle miles travelled (VMT). With a microeconomic quantitative analysis scheme, a constant elasticity of substitution (CES) function is used as an approach to model the annual mileage for different travel purposes. An illustration is given for the effects of a TCS on emission mitigation based on historical data for Great Britain.…

  • Transport management measures in the post-Olympic Games period

Meng Xu, Susan Grant-Muller et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2015

After decades of rapid economic growth, the municipality of Beijing is now facing serious urban transport challenges with rapid motorization and travel demand growth. Designing and implementing efficient and equitable urban transport policies are essential to achieve the sustainable urban mobility target of the city. The success of transport management around the 2008 Olympic Games has left policymakers with the confidence to develop various effi…

  • Extending cost–benefit analysis for the sustainability impact of inter-urban Intelligent Transport Systems

    Open Access•Ben Kolosz, Susan Grant-Muller et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Impact Assessment…•2015•References: 20

  • Incorporating equity as part of the wider impacts in transport infrastructure assessment

    Open Access•Nikolaos Thomopoulos, Susan Grant-Muller et al.•ARTICLE•Transportation•2013
