  • Rapd Profiling of Bacillus spp with PGPR Potential and Their Effects on Mineral Composition of Tomatoes

Open Access•Caroline Fadeke Ajilogba, Olubukola Oluranti Babalola•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•2016•References: 2

Bacillus species have been known to antagonize and inhibit the growth of various plant pathogens but quality of crop from such plants is yet to be investigated. The aim of this study is to analyze the mineral composition of tomato to which Bacillus isolates were applied as a biocontrol agents whose relatedness and diversity has been profiled using the Random Amplification of Polymorphic Deoxyribonucleic acid (RAPD). Eleven Bacillus isolates were …

  • Antagonistic Effects of Bacillus Species in Biocontrol of Tomato Fusarium Wilt

Open Access•Caroline Fadeke Ajilogba, Olubukola Oluranti Babalola et al.•ARTICLE•Studies on Ethno-Medicine•2013

Fusarium solani is the causative organism of Fusarium wilt of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill). Four Bacillus spp identified as B. amyloliquefaciens, B. cereus, B. pumilus and B. subtilis were tested for biocontrol activities in vitro as zone of inhibition and in vivo as percent disease control and disease incidence. The result from in vitro analysis showed that B. amyloliquefaciens inhibited the growth of F. solani the most by 95.2% while B…
