  • Impact of automation on long haul trucking operator-hours in the United States

Open Access•Aniruddh Mohan, Parth Vaishnav•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2022

Automated long haul trucking is being developed for commercial deployment in the United States. One possible mode of deployment for this technology is a “transfer-hub” model where the operationally less complex highway driving is automated, while human drivers drive the more complex urban segment of the route. We study the possible net impacts on tractor-trailer operator-hours from this mode of deployment. Using data from the 2017 Commodity Flow …

  • Sustained cost declines in solar PV and battery storage needed to eliminate coal generation in India

Open Access•Aniruddh Mohan, Shayak Sengupta et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2022

Unabated coal power in India must be phased out by mid-century to achieve global climate targets under the Paris Agreement. Here we estimate the costs of hybrid power plants—lithium-ion battery storage with wind and solar PV—to replace coal generation. We design least cost mixes of these technologies to supply stylized baseload and load-following generation profiles in three Indian states—Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu. Our analysis shows tha…

  • Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose

    Open Access•Vikrom Mathur, Aniruddh Mohan•ARTICLE•India Quarterly A Journal of…•2016•Cited by: 1

Global climate policy till date has focused on building consensus around a differentiated roadmap for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Equally important yet receiving less attention is the need to support adaptation of the most vulnerable communities to the increasingly severe impacts of climatic changes. The Paris Agreement, negotiated at the 21st COP in December 2015, ‘stitches up’ national contributions on adaptation and mitigation into a gl…
