Goal Attainment Scaling in Early Childhood Intervention
One of the problems about evaluations of outcomes of therapeutic services is the need for quantitative and/or qualitative measurement of attainment of intended goals that is sensitive to small changes over short periods. Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) was developed by Dr Tom Kiresuk and colleagues (in the United States) in the 1960s to address this issue. An Organisational Evaluation Capability Hierarchy Model for Self-diagnosis 1
The use of Capability Maturity Models in financial management, project management, people management and information systems management in a wide variety of organisations indicates the potential for an Organisational Evaluation Capability Hierarchy to guide the self-diagnosis of organisations in building their evaluation maturity. This paper is about the theory behind this growing trend in organisational governance and organisational diagnosis, a…
The Historical Perspectives on Evaluation project
A teenager, approaching the magical twenty years might be expected to ask: ‘Where have I come from? Why am I different?’ With over 21 years of National (and International) Evaluation Conferences behind it the Australasian Evaluation Society (AES), which is still only a teenager, is expected to ask these questions. Indeed, at the recent Auckland Conference it venerated its oldies, and bestowed on some of them the title of ‘Fellow’, including the r…
Development of program evaluation in Australia and the Australasian Evaluation Society – the early decades
The year 2003 marks the 21st year of the series of National Evaluation Conferences (NECs) and international conferences, as well as the sixteenth year of the AES. This paper is not intended as a full history, nor as a dossier of the AES per se; that is for another time and place. Rather, it seeks both to reflect on whether there is a distinctive flavour of public sector program evaluation in the antipodes, and to give an overview of how evaluatio…
Health Locus of Control
A correlational analysis of the unidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale with the multidimensional Levenson Locus of Control Scale indicated that the area-specific scale relates to ‘Chance’ and ‘Internal’ attributions of influence in health. The correlation with ‘Powerful Others’ dimension of Levenson did not approach significance ( ns = 106 men, 59 women, 17 to 21 yr. old)
