Using a factorial designed survey instrument, this study represents one of the first attempts to comprehensively assess situational, officer, organisational, and neighbourhood factors effecting the decision of officers to arrest juveniles in the rural U.S. Findings suggest that situational, officer, and organisational characteristics affect the decision to arrest in rural communities.
