  • Interdisciplinary identification of the skeletal remains of Catherine Roberts‐Davies, The first Welsh settler death in Patagonia, Argentina in 1865

Open Access•Silvia Dahinten, Silvia Lucrecia Dahinten et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020•References: 4

In 1995, an almost complete human skeleton was found in Punta Cuevas, in the southern coast of Puerto Madryn, Chubut, Argentina. The burial traits and the associated objects suggested the skeleton might belong to Mrs. Catherine Roberts‐Davies, a middle‐aged woman who was the first dead person among the first group of 163 Welsh settlers that set sail on May 28, 1865, from Liverpool to Bahía Nueva, in Argentinian Patagonia. The aim of this paper is…

  • Early human dispersals within the Americas

Open Access•J Víctor Moreno-Mayar, Lasse Vinner et al.•ARTICLE•Science•2018

Complex processes in the settling of the Americas The expansion into the Americas by the ancestors of present day Native Americans has been difficult to tease apart from analyses of present day populations. To understand how humans diverged and spread across North and South America, Moreno-Mayar et al. sequenced 15 ancient human genomes from Alaska to Patagonia. Analysis of the oldest genomes suggests that there was an early split within Beringia…

  • Admixture and genetic relationships of Mexican Mestizos regarding Latin American and Caribbean populations based on 13 Codis-STRs

    Open Access•Joel Salazar‐Flores, J Salazar-Flores et al.•ARTICLE•HOMO•2015

  • Genetic structure and admixture in urban populations of the Argentine North-West

    Open Access•Emma Alfaro Gómez, E L Alfaro et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2005

Five hundred years after the Spanish conquest, urban populations at ANW that have probably been subject to the same evolutionary forces present low genetic diversity and a similar genetic structure. Genetic distances and admixture percentages observed agree with census and ethno-historical data on settlement in the region
