  • Magnetometry of Corded Ware Culture Barrows in Western Ukraine

    Open Access•Jakub Niebieszczański, Przemysław Makarowicz et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Prospection•2025•References: 5

This study presents the results of a multiproxy geoarchaeological analysis of Corded Ware culture (CWC) barrows from the 3rd millennium bc in Volytsia, Western Ukraine. Combining magnetometry surveys, stratigraphic excavation, magnetic susceptibility testing and iron content analysis, the research aims to identify diagnostic features of CWC burial mounds and assess how soil processes affect their geophysical visibility. Magnetometry revealed that…

  • Geochemical, lithological and archaeological studies on an Early Bronze Age barrow destroyed by modern tillage in Petrove, central Ukraine

Open Access•Mykola Tupchiienko, Iwona Hildebrandt-Radke et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2023

  • Health Risk of Heavy Metals Related to Consumption of Vegetables in Areas of Industrial Impact in the Republic of Kazakhstan—Case Study for Oskemen

Open Access•Laura Boluspayeva, Monika Jakubus et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Among various heavy metal sources the metallurgic industry is the most threatening because emitted metals presented are the chemical forms in which metals are found in soil are more bioavailable and thus very easily are introduced into the environment and spread in both soils and plants. In this study such a situation is presented and the potential negative effect of emitted metals on soil and vegetables is estimated. Therefore, the following ind…

  • Middle Bronze Age cemeteries, ‘double barrows’ and mortuary houses in the Upper Dniester Basin, Western Ukraine

    Open Access•Jan Romaniszyn, Jakub Niebieszczański et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Prospection•2021•Cited by: 6•References: 3

This article discusses two cases of so‐called double barrows from the Middle Bronze Age Komarów culture cemetery in Bukivna, in the Upper Dniester Basin (Ukraine), in order to demonstrate the potential of incorporating geophysical image analysis, excavations and sedimentological studies towards identifying subterranean funerary architecture. The magnetometer prospection of the Bukivna necropolis revealed the presence of a specific dipolar anomaly…
