  • Regional patterns, local techniques. Remote sensing and archaeology at prehispanic site of San Isidro, El Salvador

Open Access•Jan Szymański, Krzysztof Misiewicz et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 10

The archaeological site of San Isidro, Sonsonate, El Salvador, is located at a geographically advantageous position within the transitional zone between large study areas of Mesoamerica and Central America. It became the focus of the Polish-Salvadoran Proyecto Arqueológico San Isidro (PASI) investigation in 2018. The overarching research question of the Project is to understand the prehispanic cultural and social dynamics within this zone, and re…

  • Reconstruction of the Mine Plan in Szklary (Poland) Using ERT

Open Access•Mikolaj Zawadzki, Helena Ciechowska et al.•ARTICLE•ArchéoSciences•2021•References: 1

The final result of the project is to create a 2D model of the mine plan based on the results of the geophysical measurements.– ERT was chosen as the primary method in this project due to the fact that the voids and the air have a very high resistivity (3,3 ∙ 1016Ωm). Voids are very well recognizable on the ERT results.– Using of the Seismic Refraction Tomography (SRT) is planned on some profiles. SRT is the method rarely used in archaeogeophysic…

  • Western Section of the ‘Dry Moat’ Channel Surrounding Step Pyramid Complex in Saqqara in the Light of Ground‐penetrating Radar Prospection

    Open Access•Fabian Welc, Radosław Mieszkowski et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Prospection•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The Dry Moat is one of the most impressive and at the same time puzzling architectonic structure preserved within the famous royal necropolis at Saqqara, Egypt. It is a rock‐hewn ditch about 40 m wide and of variable depth, which surrounds the Step Pyramid complex built by Pharaoh Djoser from the Third Dynasty which was the first monumental structure totally built of stone blocks in human history. The function and intention of the Dry Moat remain…
