Open Access•Jackie Xiu Yan, Shuting Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Perspectives•2026

Researchers in translation studies (TS) are paying increasing attention to various aspects of audio description (AD). However, the role and status of AD within TS remain unclear. Is it a legitimate subfield of TS? To provide a clear picture of AD studies, the researchers conducted a bibliometric review of journal articles on AD from 2004 to 2024. A database was constructed, and the selection of journals in the database used the following criteria…

  • LiDAR

Open Access•Lin Su, Su Lin et al.•CHAPTER•International Encyclopedia of…•2017

LiDAR is the acronym for Light Detection And Ranging. It is an ultraviolet, visible, or infrared remote sensing instrument that uses laser pulses to detect a target. The principle of LiDAR is to emit laser pulses to illuminate a target and analyze the reflected radiance to detect the spatial location of that target. LiDAR is widely used for military purposes, atmospheric sounding, and underwater detection.

  • Baseline Health, Socioeconomic Status, and 10-Year Mortality Among Older Middle-Aged Americans

    Joe Feingla, J Feinglass et al.•ARTICLE•The Journals of Gerontology…•2007•Cited by: 23•References: 2

Baseline health by age 50 is an important pathway in the association between midlife socioeconomic status and mortality risk to age 70. The continuing effect of low household income on mortality risk was concentrated among respondents reporting excellent to good health at baseline. Socioeconomic disparities in middle-age health continue to limit disability-free life expectancy at older ages
