  • Joint Effect of Accuracy Nudge and Warning Label Interventions on Intention to Share Covid-19 Misinformation

Open Access•Kazunori Fujimoto, Yūko Tanaka et al.•ARTICLE•Health Communication•2026

The spread of misinformation is a growing problem, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Implementing multiple psychological interventions simultaneously is a potential approach to countering misinformation, but little is known about the effectiveness of combined interventions. Based on accuracy nudge theory, which posits that inattention to accuracy is the primary driver of misinformation sharing, we hypothesized that accuracy nudges a…

Open Access•Mei Amaike, Akimitsu Yokoyama et al.•ARTICLE•BioPsychoSocial Medicine•2025

BACKGROUND: Primary prevention of depressive symptoms among independent older adults is a critical public health challenge. Lifestyle factors and social support networks are increasingly recognized as pivotal determinants of mental health in this population. This study investigates the correlation between face-to-face, telephone, and online communication frequencies and loneliness among individuals in their 20s. (2) Methods: Using a dataset from a nat…

  • Effects of the valence and argument substantiveness of others’ comments on viewers’ validation of and attitudes toward pseudo-scientific claims

Open Access•Miwa Inuzuka, Yūko Tanaka et al.•ARTICLE•Cogent Social Sciences•2023

This study examines how the valence and argument of comments affect viewers’ attitudes toward and validation of a pseudo-scientific claim. We developed and tested a hypothesized model based on the elaboration likelihood model. Participants watched a video that introduced pseudo-scientific claims with others’ comments on the same screen. We assigned participants (n = 646) to a control condition with no message presentation and a message condition,…

  • Early Heian Period Shuzen 修善

    Open Access•Yūko Tanaka•ARTICLE•印度學佛教學研究•2023

After the arrival of Buddhism, shuzen 修善 (“cultivating good acts”) was encouraged in Japan and its merits were preached. In the Rikkokushi 六国史, compiled from the late eighth to the early tenth century, shuzen meant the reading of sūtras, making donations, enabling persons to take the tonsure, and so on. Also in the same text shuzen for the elimination of misfortune was sometimes combined with repentance for transgressions. However, in Fujiwara no…

  • Mortality Salience and Mobile Voice Calling

    Open Access•Takahisa Suzuki, T Kobayashi et al.•ARTICLE•Communication Research•2022

Observational studies have found that the frequency of mobile communication with close ties increases in times of emergency. However, the mechanisms underlying such increases are not well understood. Drawing upon terror management theory, this study predicted that increased mortality salience due to disaster promotes mobile voice calling to close ties. By analyzing digitally traced behavioral data, Study 1 found that mobile voice calls to close t…

We used longitudinal data from 784 elderly residents (mean age = 73 years) to examine the relationship between subjective usefulness and 6-year mortality. We hypothesized that subjective usefulness is an important indicator of quality of life among the elderly populat…
