  • The impact of multi-channel marketing on tourist expenditure and satisfaction

    Chiang-Ming Chen, Kuo‐Liang Chang et al.•ARTICLE•Current Issues in Tourism•2026

This study investigates how multi-channel marketing (MCM) influences tourist expenditure and satisfaction using 2023 Taiwan tourism data. Employing OLS and quantile regression, we find that simultaneous online and offline channel use significantly boosts total and shopping spending. Quantile analysis further reveals that MCM impact is non-uniform, primarily boosting small-to-medium expenditure levels while inducing ‘efficiency’ savings at higher …

  • Investigating the economic impacts of culture events on the hotels and tourism industry

Kuo‐Liang Chang, Kuo-Liang Matt Chang et al.•ARTICLE•Current Issues in Tourism•2026

This study examines how cultural events, specifically music concerts and film and television activities, affect hotel revenue, lodging demand, and visitor arrivals. Using panel data from Taiwan’s international tourist hotels from 2020 to 2023, we estimate the marginal impact of these events while controlling for hotel characteristics and external shocks. Results show that music concerts positively affect hotel revenue and lodging demand, whereas …

  • A framework to measure microaggressions in the mathematics classroom

    Open Access•Hazel J McKenna, Kuo‐Liang Chang et al.•ARTICLE•SN Social Sciences•2021

Discriminatory treatment has been identified as one of the major factors that cause the mathematics achievement gap between White and many minority students, particularly, African Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans. Culturally Responsive Teaching has been promoted as a means to reduce discrimination in the classroom. However, the appearance of neo-racism in the form of racial microaggressions suggests that Culturally Responsive Teaching m…

  • Do internal migrants suffer from housing extreme overcrowding in urban China

Sheng Li, Lanlan Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Housing Studies•2018•Cited by: 8•References: 48

Housing deprivation is central to economic deprivation. Identifying disadvantaged group(s) suffering from housing deprivation is a necessary step before the government can design effective housing assistance programmes. Using a nationwide micro-level data-set from the Chinese Family Panel Studies, we evidence the disadvantage that internal migrants face related to extreme overcrowding. We find that renters, whether natives or internal migrants, a…

  • Elasticity of demand for tuition fees at an institution of higher education

    George Langelett, Kuo-Liang Chang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Higher Education…•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 6

Using a conjoint survey of 161 students at South Dakota State University (SDSU), we mapped a probability-of-enrolment curve for SDSU students, consistent with demand theory. A quasi-demand curve was created from the conditional-logit model. This study shows that along with the price of tuition fees, distance from home, availability of majors, and family and friend connections to the school have significant effects on a student’s decision to atten…

  • A comparison study of travel expenditure and consumption choices between first-time and repeat visitors

  • Cost Efficiency and the Choice of Operation Type

Chiang-Ming Chen, Kuo-Liang Chang et al.•ARTICLE•Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism…•2012

This study investigated the endogenous relationship between the differences in cost efficiency and hotel owners' choices of either remaining an independently operated establishment or joining an international chain. We applied observations of 72 international tourist hotels in Taiwan from 1997 to 2008 to a simultaneous equations model with qualitative and limited dependent variables. The study results suggest that joining international chains sig…
