    본 연구는 아세안 회원국 간 경제 발전의 정도가 다르며, 이를 극복하기 위한 아세안 차원의 노력과 역외 국가의 역할에 주목한다. 연구의 핵심 질문은 두 가지이다. 첫째, 아세안 개발격차(development gap) 완화를 위한 아세안과 아세안 개별회원국의 정책과 분야는 어떻게 설정되고 초점이 무엇인지, 둘째, 아세안 역외 국가와의 협력은 어떻게 나타나는가에 대한 것이다. 이와 같은 연구질문은 아세안 내에서 개발격차를 극복하기 위한 아세안과 회원국 간의 관계를 조명하고, 신남방정책의 3Ps, 사람 공동체(People), 상생번영 공동체(Prosperity), 평화 공동체(Peace)가 아세안 개발격차 완화를 위해 어떻게 적용될 수 있는지 그 가능성을 타진하는 데 의의가 있다. 연구 질문을 분석하기 위해 조직이론 중 하나인 자원의존이론(resource dependence theory)을 차용하여,…
