Inhibitory Effect of Plants Extract Against the Fungal Growth on the Archaeological Sandstones in Tell-Basta Open Area
Fungi play a very important role in the biodegradation of archaeological stones in Tell Basta open area, leading to their biodeterioration and loss. Therefore, it was necessary to preserve these archaeological stones, especially sandstone. The sandstone was analyzed and examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for deteriorated fungal growth and compared with control. Deteriorated fung…
An Evaluation Study on the Reassembly of Inscribed Stone Pieces in the Grand Egyptian Museum
This research paper presents an applied study of reassembling inscribed stone pieces in the Grand Egyptian Museum. It covered one of the large archaeological limestone blocks divided into three parts. It was carried out in Saqqara excavations from the Kyiri Tomb, which dates back to the Eighteenth dynasty, numbered (1517GEM-CC) in the records of the Grand Egyptian Museum. The study was divided into two parts. First, inspection and analysis were c…
Investigation and Conservation of a Private Photographic Collection of Albumen Prints, Egypt
Albumen prints are the most important photographic prints of the late 19th century. It is basically composed of two layers: the first layer is the paper support (i.e. cellulose), and the second layer is the image layer (i.e. image silver particles embedded in an albumen binder layer). There are several factors threatening the permanence of albumen prints (e.g., fluctuating temperatures and relative humidity, frequent handling, air pollution, ligh…
Impact of Storage Conditions on Biodeterioration of Ancient Egyptian Child Mummies by Xerophilic Fungi
The study was conducted on a child's mummy aged 6 to 8 years, with a damaged skull. It wasfound in Dahshur, Egypt. 10 fungal species were isolated and identified. Fungi have beendetermined by PCR amplification and sequencing as follows: Cladosporium cladosporioides(LC325159), Penicillium chrysogenum (LC325162) and Aspergillus flavus (LC325160). Modernlinen samples were inoculated and incubated by the isolated fungi for a period of three months.Fu…
Elementary proofs of some classical stability criteria
Classical stability results and test on the stability of a given polynomial are proved and derived using a simple continuity property. The resulting proofs given of the Hermite-Bieler theorem and the Routh and Jury tests are elementary and full of insight. The proofs allow the instructor to present these fundamental topics of control theory to undergraduates in an elementary, rational, and meaningful way rather than as mere sets of rules and form…
