  • Stone deterioration at underwater archaeological sites in the Mediterranean Sea

Open Access•Luigi Germinario, Isabella Moro et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cultural Heritage•2026•References: 2

The Mediterranean Sea hosts a remarkable underwater cultural heritage that reflects millennia of in- teraction between people and the sea, preserving evidence of ancient societies, their maritime trades, travels, economies, coastal lifestyles, and technological achievements. Its protection and preservation rely on knowledge of the properties and deterioration of historical materials and their interaction with the marine environment. This study ad…

  • The Paragan 1 shipwreck, Corsica

    Open Access•Eric Rieth, Franca Cibecchini•ARTICLE•Archaeonautica•2021

The wreck is located in the Bay of Paragan near Bonifacio, southern Corsica and was discovered in 2015. It has been dated by Ligurian faïence to the end of the 17th-beginning of the 18th century. Since 2016, the wreck has been the object of an underwater excavation within the framework of the MoMArch international training school (A*Midex, Aix-Marseille University, CCJ, DRASSM). The wreck displays several “architectural fingerprints” that are cha…

  • Initial construction evidence of the Bou Ferrer shipwreck, a large vessel of the Early Roman Empire

Open Access•Carlos De Juan Fuertes, Carlos de Juan et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeonautica•2021

We present a basic summary of the research conducted on the Bou Ferrer shipwreck since 2006, which has provided interesting new data about a navis oneraria well dated to the second half of the 1st century AD. Despite that fact that only one major trench was excavated up until 2017, about 55 m2 of wooden structures in a good state of preservation have been revealed, providing information about her construction. There are construction elements that…

  • Capo Sagro 2

    Open Access•Franca Cibecchini•ARTICLE•Gallia•2017
