  • Using threshold analysis to assess the robustness of public health intervention recommendations from network meta-analyses: Application to accident prevention in households with children under five

Open Access•Molly Wells, Sylwia Bujkiewicz et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

In our case study, threshold analysis allowed us to demonstrate that there was some discrepancy in the intervention recommendation for promoting accident prevention behaviours as the recommendation was robust for one outcome but not the other. Therefore, caution should be taken when considering such interventions in practice for the prevention of poisonings in homes with children aged 0-5. However, there can be some confidence in the use of this …

  • The Effect of Navigation on Linkage to a PrEP Provider Among PrEP-Eligible Men who have Sex with Men in a U.S. Demonstration Project

Open Access•Anne Kimball, Weiming Zhu et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS and Behavior•2022

  • A decision analytic model to investigate the cost-effectiveness of poisoning prevention practices in households with young children

Open Access•Felix Achana, Alex J Sutton et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

Education offers better value for money than more intensive but expensive strategies for preventing medicinal poisonings, but is only likely to be cost-effective at £30,000 per QALY gained for families in disadvantaged areas and for those with more than one child. There was considerable uncertainty in cost-effectiveness estimates due to paucity of evidence on model parameters. Policy makers should consider both costs and effectiveness of competin…

  • Ethnicity Questions and Antenatal Screening for Sickle Cell/Thalassaemia [Equans] in England: A Randomised Controlled Trial of Two Questionnaires

    Simon M Dyson, Lorraine Culley et al.•ARTICLE•Ethnicity and Health•2006•Cited by: 2•References: 7

A category-based ethnicity screening question was more effective than a binary plus open-ended question. Using the more effective question, 5.74% (CI 2.34-11.46%) of significant haemoglobinopathies will be missed in a selective screening programme, and 4.33% (CI 2.63-6.68%) of replies to an ethnicity screening question will be unreliable when compared to information given upon re-interview. In specific carefully circumscribed situations, namely, …
