Effectiveness of pictorial warnings on food fat content
Purpose This paper delves into evaluating the effectiveness of warning messages as a deterrent against excessive fat consumption. It examines how consumers perceive the fat content of food products when presented with two distinct label types: (1) a textual warning, providing succinct information about the fat content, and (2) a pictorial warning, offering a visual representation that immediately signifies the fat content. Design/methodology/appr…

This study aims to investigate the factors affecting the decision to revisit a cultural heritage destination and recommend it to others (heritage destination loyalty). Pictorial warning labels as deterrents of alcohol abuse
Purpose The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the effectiveness of pictorial warning labels that leverage the risk of obesity as a deterrent against alcohol abuse. It evaluates the impact of three different kinds of warning labels that can potentially discourage alcoholic drinking: (1) a claim, in text format, that cautions consumers about the product (i.e. a responsibility warning statement); (2) a textual warning label, text-format inf…
Balancing exploration and exploitation in public management
Over the last 30 years, a wave of reforms has reshaped the panorama of public administrations around the world, which have also stimulated debates on the subject reform in public sector relations. Much research has focused on discussing the validity of New Public Management (NPM) as a paradigm, including the recognition of regional versions of a number of universal problems in the Public Governance, NPM, and Public Value areas. This debate is foc…
Age‐related differences when measuring political hypocrisy
This article aims to develop a scale for measuring political hypocrisy (conceptualized as the inconsistency between values publicly expressed by politicians and the behavior they actually demonstrate) and to explore the role of age in voters' perceptions of politicians' hypocrisy, analyzing if citizens belonging to different age groups may identify politicians' hypocrisy with a different detail. Results show that the 19‐item scale of political hy…
Beyond Ethical Consumption
This book examines what happens when consumption – originally based on ethical issues – becomes a sort of religious behaviour which excludes possibly equally-valid alternatives by principle. It happens when consumers are deeply observant of the choices they made that it becomes a sort of faith, a recurrent behaviour which excludes a renewal of critical judgments and usually turns into habit or, even, fanaticism. Five related studies are presented…
Mix-and-Match” Fashion Trend and Luxury Brand Recognition
The paper explores the “mix-and-match” consumption trend and the brand recognition of luxury fashion brands. Results show that consumer recognition of luxury fashion brands increases when pairing these branded products with those made by fast-fashion companies. Findings also show that luxury fashion brands are mainly recognized through accessories. Eye-tracking technology has been used to conduct the study
Brand Emotional Credibility
This research investigates the effects of mixed emotions on the positioning and on the intention to purchase different categories of branded products (i.e., Attractiveness-products, Expertise-products, and Trustworthiness-products), in relation to their main component of credibility (Ohanian, 1990). On the basis of a focus group (n = 12) aimed to identify the three branded products used as stimuli and a pre-test (n = 240) directed to discover emo…
Consumer Hypnotic-Like Suggestibility
The authors hypothesize a concept, Consumer Hypnotic-Like Suggestibility (CHLS), defined as an altered state of consciousness, as a state causing a tendency to respond positively to messages aimed at inducing consumers to make unplanned purchases. This study aims to investigate the associations of CHLS with interpersonal variables and compulsive purchasing--a frequent and uncontrollable preoccupation with buying or impulses to buy. A study was co…
