  • Observing reuse of 3D data in archaeological excavations

    Open Access•Paola Derudas, Nicolò Dell’unto et al.•ARTICLE•Internet Archaeology•2026•References: 5

This study focuses on understanding how archaeologists interact with and reuse 3D data during excavation, drawing on an ad-hoc experiment and a discourse analysis approach taken from socio-linguistic disciplines. The experiment, conducted during the excavation of an Iron Age ‘central place’ in Sweden, reveals the multifaceted utility of 3D models in archaeological discussions. Our analysis shows that these models function as effective tools for v…

  • Disability and Care in Late Medieval Lund, Sweden

    Open Access•Bernard T Nolan, Sébastien Fritz et al.•ARTICLE•Open Archaeology•2025•References: 3

We question the degree to which written sources from the period represent the reality of the disability experience, and to that end how identities intersect in the Medieval urban landscape. Following an index of care model methodology, we provide an interpretation o…

  • Dynamic Collections

    Open Access•Fredrik Ekengren, Marco Callieri et al.•ARTICLE•Open Archaeology•2021•Cited by: 4•References: 10

Archaeological collections are crucial in heritage studies and are used every day for training archaeologists and cultural heritage specialists. The recent developments in 3D acquisition and visualization technology has contributed to the rapid emergence of a large number of 3D collections, whose production is often justified as the democratization of data and knowledge production. Despite the fact that several 3D datasets are now available onlin…
