One harmonization fits all? – Impact of missing population invariance on harmonization error when harmonizing social science survey questions with equating
Metabolic Control, Diabetic Complications and Drug Therapy in a Cohort of Patients with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes in Secondary and Tertiary Care between 2004 and 2019
The increased prevalence of complications is likely due to older age and longer diabetes duration. Low rates of hypoglycaemia, lower limb amputations and good glycaemic control in secondary care patients indicate a good structure of patient care
Evaluation of an urban canopy model in a tropical city
A single layer urban canopy model (SLUCM) with enhanced hydrologic processes, is evaluated in a tropical city, Singapore. The evaluation was performed using an 11 month offline simulation with the coupled Noah land surface model/SLUCM over a compact low-rise residential area. Various hydrological processes are considered, including anthropogenic latent heat release, and evaporation from impervious urban facets. Results show that the prediction of…

A historical review and assessment of urban heat island research in S ingapore
This historical review of 20 studies since the 1960s examines the influence of urban development on the thermal environment in S ingapore, a fast growing tropical island city‐state. Past observations are critically assessed with regard to experimental controls and station metadata. Given the availability of historical climate and developmental data spanning almost 50 years, changes in urban heat island ( UHI ) intensity and spatial coverage can b…
Cities as Net Sources of CO 2
Cities are main contributors to the CO 2 rise in the atmosphere. It is clear that accurate estimates of the magnitude of anthropogenic and natural urban emissions are needed to assess their influence on the carbon balance. Increasingly the eddy covariance (EC) method is applied in urban environments to quantify CO 2 fluxes. The technique has many advantages over other methods. It is a direct measure of the flux that includes all major and minor n…
