Adaptive Disinformation Diffusion on Networks With Heterogeneous Node and Link Dynamics
This article introduces a novel adaptive diffusion model for disinformation propagation that captures temporally evolving, history dependent influence between node pairs. Unlike classical diffusion models, such as independent cascade, threshold, and compartmental models, which assume fixed or memoryless transmission probabilities, our approach assigns each directed link a time-varying influence strength $\theta_{ij}(t)$ . This parameter represent…
Optimizing climate-induced migration
Multi-objective model to protect infrastructure networks from disinformation diffusion
The spread of disinformation poses a global threat, influencing public trust and destabilizing critical systems. While existing studies focus on direct network attacks, the indirect impact of disinformation on system vulnerabilities remains underexplored. This work addresses this gap by proposing a multi-objective decision model to develop strategies for either amplifying or mitigating the effects of disinformation. Using a multi-layer framework,…
A Location Optimization Approach to Refugee Resettlement Decision-Making
Social vulnerability and equity perspectives on interdependent infrastructure network component importance
A review of definitions and measures of system resilience
Statistical methods for modeling the risk of runway excursions
The goals of this paper are to: (i) enhance the manner in which fatal airport runway excursions are modeled and quantified and (ii) explore a means to mitigate their occurrence and severity. While other research in predicting runway excursions has focused on the type of excursion, this work focuses on predicting if the excursion will generate fatalities. As the adverse effects of fatalities can be extreme in nature, there exists a need to be able…
