  • Malleable Religiosity in Hungarian Society

Tamás László•ARTICLE•Journal of Religion in Europe•2025

According to data from a large sample survey in Hungary in 2017, about 63 percent of the population of the country can be described as religious with the adjective “malleable.” The analysis was to get a differentiated picture of those belonging to this group, that is, those for whom religion does not have a uniform meaning as an identity-forming phenomenon. Ten clusters of people with malleable religiosity were identified. A detailed description …

  • Crisis perceptions and experiences of resilience among young people in the early and late stages of the coronavirus epidemic

Open Access•Tamás László, László Tamás et al.•ARTICLE•Szociológiai Szemle•2024

Based on data from the large-scale youth survey conducted in the autumn of 2020, a volume of studies entitled Hungarian Youth during the Coronavirus Epidemic was published in 2021. In his opening paper, Levente Székely also raises the possibility of interpreting the epidemic as a generational experience – while indicating that the period between the beginning of the epidemic and the recording of the data has not yet been clearly defined, at least…

  • Building a bridge with others

Open Access•Erzsébet Malota, Eszter Bogáromi et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Cross…•2024•References: 16

Our study investigated the acculturation process in a new culture from the perspectives of immigrants (interviewees) and members of the receiving culture (interviewers). One hundred and seven semi-structured interviews were carried out with foreigners from 38 countries who lived in Hungary for at least a year. Using a grounded theory approach, the perspectives and feelings of the interviewers were also analysed in addition to the interview texts.…

  • Crowds and plebiscitary representation

    Open Access•Gábor Illés, Tamás László•ARTICLE•The British Journal of Politics…•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 26

The article aims to characterise the role of crowd events in plebiscitary representation, complementing the original Weberian–Schmittian characterisation with Hans-Ulrich Gumbrecht’s notions of crowd and presence ritual. In addition, it shows the relevance of the theoretical argument by analysing the role three types of presence rituals play in maintaining Viktor Orbán’s plebiscitary regime in Hungary, based on available video footage of the even…

  • Közelítések a reziliencia fogalmához és méréséhez a narrativitás kontextusában

    Open Access•Tamás László•ARTICLE•Replika•2022

A koronavírus kapcsán kialakult járványhelyzetben világszerte radikálisan és hirtelen alakult át az emberek életmódja. Mindez, attól függően is, hogy a változások mennyiben lesznek tartósak, mélyrehatók, illetve visszatérők, messzemenőkig befolyásolhatják a társas viszonyainkban megvalósuló kommunikációt, a kapcsolatteremtés lehetőségterének alakulását, végső soron pedig a közösségeket és a társadalmakat megtartó szolidaritást. A köznapi és tudom…

  • A nemzeti büszkeség építőkövei
