  • The role of judicial efficiency in the board size-financial performance nexus

    Open Access•Beatrice Sarpong‐Danquah, Beatrice Sarpong-Danquah et al.•ARTICLE•Social Sciences & Humanities Open•2023

The exact effect of board size on financial performance has remained inconclusive in the empirical literature. We seek to contribute to this literature by assessing the impact of board size on the financial performance of 408 microfinance institutions (MFIs) for 2010 to 2018 financial years. Besides, we explore whether judicial efficiency exerts any significant effect on the board size-performance nexus. Using the System Generalized Method of Mom…

  • Effect of board gender diversity on the financial performance of microfinance institutions

    Open Access•Beatrice Sarpong‐Danquah, Michael Adusei et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Public and Cooperative…•2022•Cited by: 3•References: 10

The impact of board gender diversity on the financial performance of firms is not known. This is because empirical investigations have yielded inconclusive outcomes. This study engages data from 408 microfinance institutions (MFIs) covering the period 2010–2018 from the six microfinance regions to investigate this impact using the Least Squares Dummy Variable (LSDV) and the System Generalized Method of Moments (SYS‐GMM) estimation techniques. The…

  • Manager bonding and the technical efficiency of cooperative credit unions‐parametric and non‐parametric analyses

Open Access•Michael Adusei, Kwasi Poku et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Public and Cooperative…•2022•References: 7

We engage parametric and non‐parametric approaches to analyze unbalanced data (2012–16) from 225 credit unions in Ghana. The non‐parametric analysis involves using data envelopment analysis to assess the technical efficiency of the credit unions. We show that most of them are not technically efficient. The average five‐year overall technical efficiency and pure technical efficiency scores of a credit union are 0.87 and 0.91 respectively. Targeted…
