Association of healthy lifestyle and physical fitness in children
Objective Although a healthy lifestyle is closely linked to various health outcomes in children and adolescents, its specific connection to physical fitness remains poorly understood. Methods This nationwide cross-sectional study evaluated data from 60,177 children across 27 provinces in China from 2015 to 2016. Health Lifestyle Score (HLS) assessed four key lifestyle factors: healthy eating, sufficient sleep, regular physical activity, and limit…
The interactive roles between coping tendency and focus on Covid-19 information time in Adolescent Obesity
Increased daily time spent with COVID-19 information was associated with a higher incidence of adolescent obesity. Positive coping styles have been observed to reduce the incidence of obesity in adolescents. Positive coping tendency and less time focus on COVID-19 information can mutually reinforce the reduction in adolescent obesity. In developing interventions for adolescent obesity during periods of chronic crisis, authorities must focus on en…
Reduction of bitter taste receptor gene family in folivorous colobine primates relative to omnivorous cercopithecine primates
Bitter taste perception is important in preventing animals from ingesting potentially toxic compounds. Whole-genome assembly (WGA) data have revealed that bitter taste receptor genes ( TAS2R s) comprise a multigene family with dozens of intact and disrupted genes in primates. However, publicly available WGA data are often incomplete, especially for multigene families. In this study, we employed a targeted capture (TC) approach specifically probin…
Who can help me? Understanding the antecedent and consequence of medical information seeking behavior in the era of bigdata
Introduction: The advent of bigdata era fundamentally transformed the nature of medical information seeking and the traditional binary medical relationship. Weaving stress coping theory and information processing theory, we developed an integrative perspective on information seeking behavior and explored the antecedent and consequence of such behavior. Methods: Data were collected from 573 women suffering from infertility who was seeking assisted…
Face and Identity in Intercultural Conflict Management
Face negotiation theory has been an influential theory of intercultural conflict management. However, as a theory of functional approach, it has limitations in analyzing dynamic conflict management process. Using repeated episodic interviews, this paper attempts to combine this theory with Spencer-Oatey’s (2007) face and identity model as well as post-structural perspectives of identity to analyze the dynamic and complicated conflict management p…
The reschematization of face in Chinese overseas students’ intercultural experience
There has been little longitudinal research on the relationship between how sojourners define their personal face and how this influences their use of the host language in intercultural settings. This study employs the Cultural Linguistic Perspective developed by Sharifian ( 2011 , 2017 ), using repeated episodic interviews to explore the process of reschematization of face among three Chinese overseas students in Australia. The students’ schemas…
Pharmacodynamic action and mechanism of Du Liang soft capsule, a traditional Chinese medicine capsule, on treating nitroglycerin-induced migraine
Has The Cat Got Your Tongue? Second Language Factors in Intercultural Difficulty Management
Previous intercultural communication research has relatively underplayed the influence of second language factors. This underplaying arises for three reasons: 1) the over-emphasis on the influence of cultural differences in intercultural communication; 2) the prevalent assumption that communication style in intercultural communication is the same as that in intra-cultural communication; 3) the dominant (post-) positive research approach in interc…
