  • Potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from cropping in India

Open Access•Benjamin Clark, Benjamin Donald Clark et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2026

India is among the largest emitters of agricultural greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the world and is dominated by small-scale farmers who are highly vulnerable to climate change. To help target interventions most likely to reduce emissions from croplands while benefiting farmers, we estimate emissions of three different GHGs for 44 crops at a district level using an ensemble of models connected to clear management actions: nitrous-oxide (N 2 O) linked…

  • Predicting nitrate leaching loss in temperate rainfed cereal crops

Open Access•Santiago Tamagno, Alison J Eagle et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2022

Nitrate (NO 3 ) leaching from agriculture represents the primary source of groundwater contamination and freshwater ecosystem degradation. At the field level, NO 3 leaching is highly variable due to interactions among soil, weather and crop management factors, but the relative effects of these drivers have not been quantified on a global scale. Using a global database of 82 field studies in temperate rainfed cereal crops with 961 observations, ou…

  • Congregations and Social Services

Open Access•M Chaves, Alison Eagle et al.•ARTICLE•Religions•2016•Cited by: 11•References: 15

Congregations and other religious organizations are an important part of the social welfare system in the United States. This article uses data from the 2012 National Congregations Study to describe key features of congregational involvement in social service programs and projects. Most congregations (83%), containing 92% of religious service attendees, engage in some social or human service activities intended to help people outside of their con…

  • Determinants of Threatened Sage Grouse in Northeastern Nevada

G Cornelis Van Kooten, Alison J Eagle et al.•ARTICLE•Human Dimensions of Wildlife•2007

We examined potential human determinants of observed declines in greater sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) populations in Elko County, Nevada. Although monitoring of sage grouse has occurred for decades, monitoring levels have not been consistent. This article contributes to the literature by normalizing grouse counts by the annual effort to count them, performing regression analyses to explain the resulting normalized data, and correcting …

  • Social dilemmas and public range management in Nevada

Open Access•G Cornelis Van Kooten, Roy Thomsen et al.•ARTICLE•Ecological Economics•2006

  • How costly are carbon offsets? A meta-analysis of carbon forest sinks
