  • The roles of actors in nature-positive transformations

Open Access•Jennifer Yarnold, Josie Carwardine et al.•ARTICLE•AMBIO•2026

Nature positive is gaining momentum as a global goal to halt and reverse nature loss. Yet the scale and pace of action are inadequate to curb accelerating biodiversity decline, threatening the foundations of economies and society. Applying sustainability transitions frameworks, we map key system actors to conceptualise their drivers, barriers, interactions and roles they can play to overcome institutional constraints and advance six nature transf…

  • Mapping threats to species

  • The Salas y Gómez and Nazca ridges

Open Access•Daniel Wagner, Liesbeth van der Meer et al.•ARTICLE•Marine Policy•2021

The Salas y Gómez and Nazca ridges are two seamount chains of volcanic origin, which include over 110 seamounts that collectively stretch across over 2,900 km in the southeastern Pacific. Ecosystems in this region are isolated by the Atacama Trench, the Humboldt Current System, and an extreme oxygen minimum zone. This isolation has produced a unique biodiversity that is marked by one of the highest levels of marine endemism on Earth. These areas …

  • Walking along with development’

    Open Access•James R A Butler, James Butler et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Science & Policy•2021•Cited by: 10•References: 28

Adaptation pathways are decision-making processes which sequence actions over time to account for rapid change and future uncertainty. In developing economies pathways practice can guide climate-resilient development (CRD) but is hampered by complex political dynamics, intensified by ‘resource curses’ of abundant natural resources. We tested an adaptation pathways approach for large-scale natural resource development in Papua New Guinea’s Bismarc…
