Ethical and legal challenges of medical AI on informed consent
The escalating integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in clinical settings carries profound implications for the doctrine of informed consent, presenting challenges that necessitate immediate attention. China, in its advancement in the deployment of medical AI, is proactively engaging in the formulation of legal and ethical regulations. This paper takes China as an example to undertake a theoretical examination rooted in the principles of me…
Inferring Individual Human Mobility From Sparse Check-in Data
Inferring individual human mobility at a given time is not only beneficial for personalized location-based services but also crucial for tracking trajectory of the confirmed cases in the COVID-19 pandemic. However, individual-generated trajectory data from mobile Apps are characterized by implicit feedback, which means only a few individual-location interactions can be observed. Existing studies based on such sparse trajectory data are not suffic…

When user-centric location privacy protections are used by the public (e.g., published as a mobile application to Mac app store), they are found to be vulnerable to a novel kind of potential inference attacks. These attacks can utilize the open-use protection’s input–output pairs to closely study the protection’s structure and mechanism. We name this kind of attacks as knowing-and-learning (KL) attacks. Targeted at such potential but threatening …
The Association of Metabolic Syndrome with the development of cardiovascular disease among Kazakhs in remote rural areas of Xinjiang, China
Elevations of BP, WC, and TG were independent risk factors for CVD in Kazakhs. Control of these factors is important to prevent CVD in this population

The results show that while Chinese negotiators are more concerned with maintaining good relations in the negotiation process, Canadian negotiators put more weight on their individual economic gains from negotiation. This result suggests a difference in …
