The Effects of Governance on Labour Unemployment in India
Using annual data for India spanning 1996–2023, this study investigates how governance quality shapes the unemployment rate. Four World Bank governance indicators—government effectiveness (GE), control of corruption (CC), political stability (PS) and rule of law (RL)—are examined alongside GDP, inflation and a structural-break dummy (D2018) capturing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rollout. Long- and short-run relationships are estimated through…
The impact of climate change on maize yields and its variability in Telangana, India
The present study explores the effect of climate change on maize yields and its variance in Telangana utilizing Just–Pope production function, spanning the period 1956–2015. The three‐step feasible generalized least squares (FGLS) method is employed to estimate the Just and Pope production function. The empirical results of the work reveal that the average minimum temperature has a significant unfavorable effect on maize yield in Telangana. Maxim…
The impact of clean energy consumption on economic growth and CO 2 emissions in BRICS countries
This paper examines the impact of clean energy consumption (CEC) on economic growth (EG) and CO 2 emissions (CO 2 ) within a framework of environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis in a panel of BRICS countries for the period 1992–2014. The results indicated that CEC and EG have a significant positive impact on EG, while CO 2 has a negative impact on it. Our results also found that EC and EG increase CO 2 while CEC significantly reduces it. Fur…
